Our staff
Shirley De Jongh - Operations Manager and computer facilitator
She lives in Bonteheuwel and was unemployed for two years. Another victim of the flood of cheap clothing into our country, her company closed down. It came as a shock! In August 2013 she saw an article in the local newspaper about a free workshop offered by YoungPeople@Work at Bishop Lavis library. With all the scams going around hoodwinking unsuspecting and vulnerable unemployed people, she was sceptical to attend. But she did and even got some fellow ex-colleagues to join her. The rest is history!! Now Shirley De Jongh is a qualified computer facilitator, part time bookkeeper and office administrator. She keeps all of us on our toes at the office! She has reskilled herself, attended numerous computer courses, a Train the Trainer course, various life skills workshops and mirrored Frank Julie for 3 months to learn more about management and leadership. She even caters for all our functions and those of other organizations, a passion she had for years! So rapidly has she developed that she now serves on the boards of YP@W and People First Foundation! After two years she can SMILE again. And now she understands when we say "We Live to Work, We don't Work to Live!!"
